Why it matters

The battle disrupted British recruitment and advance into North Carolina while exposing the Revolution's southern civil-war violence.

Why this provisional tier

This tier predates canonical assessment v1. It remains a research hypothesis and must not be used as settled label priority.

King's Mountain helped check British momentum and destroyed a major Loyalist force, but it did not by itself reverse the southern campaign.

The language of Patriot victory should not hide that many of those defeated were American Loyalists and that violence continued after organized resistance collapsed.
